This course will be something fresh! We will be growing and harvesting an amazing crop of woolly vegetables that will make you smile and fill up your head full of ideas.
This Happy Veggies Livestream Course is an exciting new online learning format. We will work together live and grow a lovely wool garden using the wet felting technique.
What is a livestream course?
It is as close as possible to a face-to-face workshop format, it involves working together during the broadcast and a lot of communication. I show you the process of creating cute vegetable finger puppets and you work with me at the same time on your own ones. I answer all your questions via chat and help you cope with the work as efficiently as possible.
What do we do on a course?
In the course, we will create broccoli and beetroot as finger puppet toys in the wet felting technique (finished broccoli is 8 cm high and beetroot is 7 cm without the head tail) as our main project. I chose these two vegetables as they can be used to learn all the basic techniques of vegetable felting: working with different shapes, with decoration and extra volumed details.
But, of course, it's impossible to stop at a couple of vegetables. So I'll give you as many as 8 patterns to start with, from which you can grow over a dozen different vegetables. I will also show you all the nuances of working with the vegetables presented in the additional templates, so that you can handle them yourself based on all the knowledge you've gained on the course. This is a great start to a creative harvest. And how much you can grow after the course, woohoo!
In this course we work with finger puppets - hollow 3D sculptures of different shapes and detailing, it's great practice in volumetric felting. As a bonus I will explain how to turn finger puppets into fugurine toys, but in this course I don't felt figurine toys.
Don't underestimate toys - they are complex three-dimensional sculptures on which you can learn a huge number of non-toy techniques and tricks. Learning felting while growing such a tiny and positive vegetable garden is wonderful - art therapy and professional growth on the same wooly seedbed.
How long is the course, will there be a recordings and is it suitable for beginners?
This course is an evening, two-day course consisting of three lessons (on the second day there is a double lesson with a break). The course is ideal for beginners, but will also be of interest to experienced masters. I give very detailed instructions, so there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. In addition, you will still have a record with unlimited access and my support.
Does it take much to get started?
The list of necessary materials and tools for this course is not big, everything can be easily found. I describe everything in great detail in the PDF file and introduction lesson that you receive right after payment, so that you have time to prepare before the course.
The veggies in this course are finger puppets. To create felted miniatures, you don't need many materials and tools - each toy weighs 5 grams only, and of the specific tools you need a ribbed antislipping mat from IKEA (or similar), as well as a needle felting needle. These tools must be prepared in advance, but the pleasure of felting is guaranteed! Believe me, I've been felting toys for 13 years, and still enjoy it.
Will I like it?
Such miniature toys are perfect pocket and table companions. Guaranteed to lift your spirits. And in the process of making them as well. Felting such toys is a complex art therapy - there is wool, hand work and wonderful heroes. It's all positive.
