A carrot is the root of health, and a brightly coloured wool carrot is doubly useful: felting it is ideal art therapy, and wearing it as a brooch is an effective mood enhancer.

This little free workshop is ideal as an art therapy tool. It's quick and easy to felt a carrot and the result is bright and cheerful, so it works perfectly in the process of getting your creative juices flowing and pumping. Come felting together, we will restore and replenish energy reserves.

We will use the wet felting technique. The project is very easy, needs very few materials and time. It is quite varied. Carrots can be various accessories, interior items, be of any vitalizing colour - there are dozens of colours in nature. The project is very suitable for beginners.

In this workshop, I will show you how to make an appetizing carrot brooch from start to finish. We will work together during the livestream. The broadcast time is 1.5 hours.

What do we need?

1. Mat for wet felting. I use ribbed kitchen cupboard mat from IKEA shop. It sold in rolls in kitchen section of IKEA. You can find something similar. 
2. Soap.
3. Water container.
4. Scissors.
5. Piece of mesh fabric (tulle, thin mosquito net or some fabric for tutu skirts), size A5 is good.
6. Wool: I make carrots out of extra fine Australian merino wool in tops (18-21 mic), but you can use any wool you have (coarse or carded, anything is good). For one carrot (ready size 11-12 cm long)  I  use 3-4 g of wool.   
7. The material for the template is a piece of thick plastic bag or laminate underlay.
8. A pin if you want to make a carrot brooch.
9. Sewing thread to match the carrot and a sewing needle to sew on the pin.
10. Thread for embroidering the carrot stripes: you can use regular sewing thread or wool or cotton floss.
11. Razor  if you use coarse wool.
12. A measure tape.
13. Hand towel.
