This course is dedicated to one of the most colourful and charismatic birds - owls. We will create different owls in miniature format, both finger puppets and figurine toys in wet felting technique.

What will be in the course?

In this course, I'm going to dive into the process of creating some lovely feathered creatures - a variety of owls. Owls are very cute, varied in colour and face, and give us masses of opportunities to work with characters and textures. On the course I work from start to finish on two different toys: a fluffy finger polar owl and a cute little owl in the format of a miniature sculpture.

In the process of work we will not only study the possibilities of wet felting in creation of volumetric felt, but also touch upon many related techniques: dry felting for work with small details, nuno felting for creation of colourful textures of plumage, and also additional techniques to bring the toy to the next level. We will decorate the toys with embroidery, learn basic baked clay techniques for bird beaks and claws, and reinforce the wings with wire frames to give the birds mobility.

Woollen miniature animals and birds in any format are incredibly touching. They leave no one indifferent, invariably cause smiles. Most of my friends have similar crumbs settled in their pockets or on their desks for a long time, everyone is happy with such a gift, even adults and serious people. After all, we are still children inside. Even when we play adult games, we need a discharge and good mood. By the way, miniature toys create a mood already in the process of creation, because felting them is a real art therapy with a guaranteed wonderful result.

I am happy to share all techniques and practices for personal use, but I am against teaching based on course materials. The goal of my course is to teach the technology of toy creation by the example of my images, so that in the future you can independently develop as an original author, mastering all the felting techniques.
