Wild Marathon 2023. Game 10. December

The letter X (Russian Ш) is waiting for us in the #bibabowowildmarathon 10th game for December. Tough one!

Quick rules

Once a month, we randomly raffle a letter of the alphabet, to which you must choose from any of our planet's current fauna - from a bug to a whale - according to your tastes. Within a month you have to make a work inspired by this character and post it with the tag #bibabowildmarathon, adding a couple of interesting facts about this animal in the description of the work. Work in any format or technique as long as it's to your liking and suits your creative ideas.

Who do we have in X?

It is not a very easy letter. But you know what? Sometimes a big choice is exhausting, as you are trying to find cool options for ages (my case). But this time the Latin letter X has not much choice at all, but even among a small number of characters there are very attractive for embodiment. For example, Xeme gull, Xantippe's shrew,  Xantus' Hummingbird, bald Mexican dog xolo, Guatemalan frog Xucaneb Robber frog, Xantus leaf-toed gekko, Xerus ground squirrel, Xenurus unicintus  armadillo and even rare Xalda sheep from Spain.

When should I finish my work?

You work until December 31 and post the finished work on your social media (Instagram, Facebook) with the hashtags #bibabowildmarathon and #bibabowildmarathon_10 .

Deadline is December 31. 

You may do several works. 

If you can't make it in time, post it later. I will add all entries to the collection, but late entries will not participate in our monthly collage, our wall of honour. 

I will put together a general collection which I will publish on the first of the month. On January 1 we'll raffle a nineth challenge, and so on all year round!  Can you imagine what an encyclopaedia of animals this will be!

Wild marathon: results of the tenth game

In the tenth game of the #bibabowowildmarathon for December, we have 21 great submissions. I didn't attach mine, as I didn't meet the deadline. The 21 heroes, on the other hand, did just fine!

In this game we have a marvellous insect - bumblebee - in the undisputed leaders, 8 works are devoted to it. The second place is occupied by hummingbird with 3 representatives of the species, and the rest of the participants of the game are represented singly. Among them are: chimpanzee, shalaika, Flame bowerbird, broad-billed duck, Scottish cat, rare breed of xalda sheep, red ground squirrel, helmeted manakin-arararipe, chevron butterfly fish, Xanthippe shrew.

It's great to have such variety again - each time I learn new and amazing things about the fauna world thanks to you and marvel at the original realisations.

A final collage of work from previous stages. Some participants over December caught up with the game and pulled up unfinished tails - now that's just incredibly cool!

I'm in the backlog again. Already deep after the deadline I was choosing between a bumblebee, a chinchilla and a Cameroon scaly-tail. And, as always, the squirrel won, well, I have a special affection for squirrels. Already thanks to the game I have a collection of different squirrels, but not all in the world. This squirrel just intrigued me by the fact that it is so secretive that so far scientists have not managed to track down living specimens in nature. I can't even believe that such a thing is possible in our world. Anyway, I'm on it.
